Sorry for taking so long. I know how much everyone is waiting for my take on the events of the past year, but with the whole family on vacation for two weeks, it was hard enough to find computer time, let alone concentrate on anything.
But I do have some thoughts. Foremost, I thought 2008 was a fine year. Three publications, two more acceptances, and three very close calls to build the old confidence. Not bad for some one who was happy with 1 publication a year, if I was lucky.
I almost got the BIG BOOK done, but with three chapters to go Christmas rushed at me like a charging rhino demanding more and more time and attention. I should have the thing done by end of next week.
Health-wise. You might remember my whining about headaches. Well, they turned out to be migraines and I got me some pills for them. Now my knee is screwed up, and I'm going to see a specialist later this month. I think I know the problem, which will likely mean surgery, but the out-patient kind, which is always--kinder.
The family is doing just great. My eldest is slowly slipping into adolescence, my youngest will start Kindergarten Jr. this year. Kat is as loving and understanding as ever. We are all basking in what has turned out to be a very nice Christmas. Well, until last night when the pet hamster we gave the oldest for Christmas died. Very sad. But then, that's for next year's round up.
So, in review:
The Price of Victory,
Golden Visions Magazine, Jan. 08
Avarice,
Darwin's Evolutions, June 2008
Vigilant,
Afterburn SF, Oct. 08
So, I hope you all have had a good year, and hoping we all have a better one.
Mike
