Trials and Tribulations of a Quick-Thinking Dad
Today is my kid’s 6th birthday. Yesterday I bought balloons to hang up around the house. Kat and my oldest daughter notice that one package of balloons is marked Happy 65th. Oops.
“Don’t worry about it,” I say. “She won’t notice.”
This morning the birthday girl looks around and frowns. “Daddy, why do some balloons have a six and a five?”
Family gives me a collective told-you-so look, but I merely smile.
“It’s because you are six today, but was 5 yesterday.”
“Oh,” she says. “That makes sense.”
