2011 in review

Another year has come and gone.  Last years post was melancholy, almost a prayer for better times. And in a way my prayer was answered with four acceptances and publications including InterGalactic Medicine Show and that elusive Canadian anthology Tesseracts.  A fifth never happened because the publisher had some woeful times himself, but that would have been a reprint so that’s okay and will probably happen in the new year.

Thanks to the nudge of fellow author’s Rebecca Senese and Michael Andre McPherson, I’ve taken the plunge into the epublishing market through Smashwords and Kobo.  Already my story, Vigilant sold once.  Since these are all reprints anything I make off of them is a bonus.

But as seems to happen with my life, anything good comes with a price, and in August, my father passed away. He’d been a cantakerous man in life, and our relationship was that classic father/son love/hate thing with the emphasis on the later. But as the year closes I find I miss him, which I think surprises me more than anything.

My writers group, The Stopwatch Gang is ticking along nicely, with publications and award nominations and a finer group of people you will never meet.

So here’s to 2011, another rollercoaster ride of life.  As for 2012, bring it on, I’m ready.
